Walking Into Womanhood Brunch
May 5, 2007
Womenade was delighted to sponsor the food which was catered by Chef Cheryl and
Chef Jamey with Heirlooms a Culinary Café and Market and the official caterer of
Womenade events.
Cathy Turner with daniel explained that Walking into Womanhood held its first meeting
on September 18, 2006. The purpose of Walking into Womanhood is to reach young ladies
ages 13 to 18 years old, educating and exposing them to various topics to build there
moral, boost their self esteem and provide them with life changing information. A
curriculum was designed by Cathy Turner and LaTanya Wynn both employees of daniel. A
third staff (Diatangal Heard) joined the team after coming aboard as a new employee with
the agency. The curriculum topics consist of Team Building exercises, Self Esteem,
Healthy Relationships, Health and Fitness, Career Exploration, Etiquette & Character,
Money Management, Legal Council, Family Awareness, and Substance Abuse. The meetings
are held on the third Monday of each month at Project Prepare from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM.
The Woman’s Day Brunch was the brain child of Diatangal Heard. The brunch was designed
to introduce young ladies in our community to positive female leadership and the
possibilities of a bright and promising future after being dealt a rough hand of cards
as child. Placing a very strong emphasis on your childhood does not have to dictate
your future! This was the 1st Annual Woman’s Day Brunch and it was a great success and
we look forward to May 3rd of 2008 for or 2nd Brunch.
